Grilled Brussel Sprouts

Jump to Recipe Jump to Video Print Recipe

This is one of my all time FAVORITE side dishes! I know, you are thinking…seriously…Brussel Sprout??? I mean, I have tried slimy boiled brussel sprouts, I had given up ever enjoying them. Then I went to visit my married son, he wanted to grill us some steaks and he said he was going to cook me some brussel sprouts too. You should have seen my face, I was NOT excited to say the least. He said, “Trust me mom, you will love them.” I was smiling and saying ok on the outside, but on the inside I was saying…Yeah…Right!! Yuck!! Long story short! He was RIGHT!!! I loved them. I have tried to make them several times and they just never have been as good as when my son makes them. I finally decided to fly to Indiana and have him make them WITH me. So here we go!

Wash and cut Brussel Sprouts in half. Get off any old outer leaves.

Then I put them all in a bowl. Drizzle on the Olive Oil, them give them a good stir. Next you Salt and Pepper them and give them another good stir. If you look closely, and you see the salt and pepper is not sticking to some of the sprouts you might have to add a little more Olive Oil.

Next thing is to GRILL THEM. Make sure your grill is nice and hot. I like to use a grill mat…have you guys seen these things! Seriously, where have I been, I only got mine like 1 year ago. You can pull it off the grill, go put it into the sink and easily wash it…AND YOUR GRILL STAYS CLEAN!!! WHAT!!! If you don’t have a grill mat, (like me…for years…sheesh) lay down heavy duty tin foil.

Now, lay them all out single file. Grill them until they are browned to your liking. Turn them over, and brown the other side. You only need to turn them once .

My sons says, It’s like toast. mom. Cook them to your liking, just like browning toast. I like mine a little dark, (I like my toast a little dark too…HAHA) as you can see in the final picture! Give these a try! I, obviously, was very skeptical. Let me tell you, they were so good and it was definitely worth the flight out here to get the recipe… LOL!
