Toasted yummy side dish with almonds

If you look at the picture above, you are probably thinking what is that weird shaped long shape rectangular piece. That is the stem. I know, usually you just cut that part off and throw it away. The stem had a hard outer skin, but if you cut that part off, the middle is juicy and flavorful!

You definitely don’t have to brown it as long as I do. I like mine VERY toasty. Just watch it closely, it turns very quickly.

There are so many health benefits to adding garlic to our diets. Garlic is known to boost your immune system, reduces blood pressure, full of antioxidants, helps in detoxification, helps keep bones strong and the list goes on and on….

So this is what we had for lunch. Yep, that’s it…just this. I love it!

Ingredients
  

  • 2 heads Fresh Brocolli
  • 1/4 C. Olive Oil
  • 4 Cloves Garlic
  • 1 Pinch Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1 tsp Sea Salt
  • 3 T. Slivered Almonds Or Sliced
  • 2 tsp. Lemon Juice Freshly Squeezed

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with tin foil.
  • Wash and trim off any dry, tough ends of the broccoli.
  • Slice the broccoli into 1/2 inch steaks, starting at the center and working out.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together oil, minced garlic, red pepper flakes,
  • Add the broccoli and stir to coat it evenly. Spread out onto the cookie sheet.
  • Roast the Broccoli for 10 min. Remove from oven and turn over all the broccoli. Sprinkle on the almonds. Put back in the oven and roast for an additional 10 min.
  • Take out of oven and put into a bowl. Sprinkle on the lemon juice, stir, and Enjoy!
